RISE Community Workshop
The RISE Community Workshop is a place where families with children or youth with disabilities come together to learn, share, and grow. It’s all about solving real challenges in a supportive, action-focused way.
RISE stands for:
- Resilience – Helping families bounce back when life gets tough
- Independence – Encouraging confident choices and self‑direction
- Support – Creating safe spaces where families feel heard and connected
- Empowerment – Giving families with tools and mindsets to grow and lead
Our mission is simple: to help families build confidence, discover their strengths, and feel supported by one another. This isn’t a typical workshops where you sit and listen to an expert. Instead, we use World Institute for Action Learning (WIAL) coaching method, which is hands-on and interactive. Together, we focus on solving one real, urgent challenge.
Here's how it works:
- One Case Study: A participant shares a challenge they are facing, like building a care team.
- The Power of the Group: Everyone else becomes the support team. Instead of giving advice, you ask questions that help uncover new ideas and solutions.
- Share Learning: Even though we focus on one person’s challenge, the lessons apply to everyone. By helping solve one person’s dilemma, you will discover strategies and “A-ha!” moments that apply directly to your own situation.
Why join if you are not presenting? Because the process itself teaches you how to break down complex problems. Most participants find that the questions asked to the presenter unlock answers for themselves.
Key Takeaway: You’ll help solve one specific problem – and walk away with new ways of thinking about your own.

Our Vision
We want to change the way families with disabilities are supported – moving from crisis management to long-term resilience and growth.
Our goal is to build a strong, collaborative community and create a model that is scalable and accessible across Malaysia. This means expanding in‑person workshops and exploring online delivery so more families can benefit.
