WeCare Journey

About Us

Vision and Mission

Vision

We dream of a world where disability isn't seen as a limitation, but as a spark that brings people together and inspires new ideas.

Mission

We want youth with disabilities to do more than just "get by". Our mission is to help them build strong communities, make their own choices, stay resilient through challenges, and have equal opportunities in every part of life.

Approach: Anchored in CARE

Everything we do is guided by four pillars we call CARE:

Community

Families and supporters standing together, so no one feels alone.

Agency

The freedom to choose your own path, not just follow what the system says.

Resilience

The strength to face difficulties and keep moving forward.

Equity

Making sure every young person has a fair chance to learn, work, travel, and belong.

Our Story

WeCareJourney began in 2015 as a social enterprise technology startup, part of Cohort 1 of the MaGIC Accelerator Program (MAP).  The spark came from our younger son, who was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1.  In those early years, we struggled to find the right care—spending time and money on services that didn’t fit.  We soon realized many families were facing the same problem: support systems were scattered and disconnected.

So, we build a digital platform to help families find services and share experiences.  But we discovered that families relied more on word-of-mouth referrals and were hesitant to post public reviews.  That insight changed our path.

In 2016, we became a nonprofit charity organization focused on SMA care.  Since then, we’ve:

  • Published standards of care guidebooks
  • Provide critical medical equipment
  • Offered home physiotherapy
  • Organized medical symposiums
  • Subsidize vaccinations, treatments, and daily living support.

Growing Our Reach

By 2025, we knew it was time to expand.  Families dealing with disabilities like Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, rare conditions, and even undiagnosed challenges needed the same kind of support.

That’s how the RISE Community Workshop was born – a safe, interactive space where families come together to learn, share and grow stronger.

RISE is more than a program, it is a movement.  Families gather to solve real challenges and build skills that last a lifetime.  Find out more about the RISE Community Workshop here.

Our Commitment

We believe disability should never be a barrier.  Instead, it can be the spark that creates stronger communities and new possibilities.

Through CARE, we connect families with people they can rely on, give youth the freedom to share their own lives, help them stay strong through challenges, and ensure they are included everywhere.

This is our promise: a future where every young person with a disability has the chance to define success on their own terms – and every family feels supported along the way.

Our Mission

To unlock the potential of youth with disabilities by providing mentorship, skills, and opportunities, enabling them to lead purposeful lives and enrich society.

Our Vision

A world where disability is not a barrier but a unique strength that drives innovation and community impact.
